About BlackBerry Curve

BlackBerry Curve takes Smartphone applicability to a new level

BlackBerry Curve series is a QWERTY keypad based Smartphone that are shaped in the form of Candybar. These phones offer standard features that allow technical work with great efficiency with tools like calendar, instant messaging, mobile email, etc. They also feature Touch Sensitive Track pad in contrary to the joystick like button used on many BlackBerry devices. This feature allows easier navigation along with better scrolling through menus, images, browsers, etc. Philippines received the first BlackBerry Curve device along with the rest of the world, but have accepted the change than most other parts of the world.

Features of Blackberry Curve

The Curve lineup can be classified in to two classed based on features and time of their release. Due to a large number of models, it won’t be possible to provide every intricate detail about each model but only the overalls which will give you some idea about them. The released handsets can be classified in to:

Early series of BlackBerry Curve

Curve 8300 series: Blackberry started their journey into the "Curve" with the release of 8300 series. This phone had multimedia camera, support for North American and European GSM support along with many other utility tools. Lack of video recording and Wi-Fi connectivity was disappointing, but BlackBerry fixed one of those issues with the release of 8310 in the year 2007. Some of the models under the 8300 series are 8310, 8320, 8330, 8310 and 8350i.

Curve 8900 series: This is an upgrade over 8300 series and features 3.2 MP camera, Wi-Fi, microUSB port and upgraded Operating system. This series has everything starting from great looks to amazing specifications. Lack of 3G connectivity, however, haunted this series due to which it received only a lukewarm welcome. Models under this series are 8910, 8980 and 8980.

Curve 8500 series: Announced on July 2009, this series continued the "consumer oriented" Research in Motion philosophy and brought more of everything back from its predecessors. Obviously, it was a multimedia series utilizing GSM technology. The company also released Curve 8530 that supports CDMA network.

Curve 9300 3G: This mid-range Smartphone marked the beginning of BlackBerry’s venture into 3G enabled devices. It featured minor improvements from its predecessor; the 8500 series, like faster processor, OS upgrade, etc.

BlackBerry 7 series

Under the 7 series, there are also various models offering varying degrees of performance and intended to be for different kinds of buyers. Some of the models are Blackberry Curve 9220/9310/9320/9321, BlackBerry Curve 9350/9360/9370 and Black Berry Curve 9380 series. If you want a detailed account of the specifications, then visit their official website to know more. If you are located in Philippines, then local stores will be able to provide you with every kind of information you need.

Popularity in the Philippines

BlackBerry’s move into unfamiliar and vast territory was marked with a barrage of releases each one specifically intended to be for different types of users. People who are already familiar with BlackBerry’s interface will find it easy to make the change to entertainment based phones. People of Philippines were already excited to venture further into applicability of Smartphone and the company provided them with a platform for doing so. Rest assured, there will be lots of more releases in the near future as the BlackBerry Curve is gaining more fans every passing day.
