Torque is founded by a Filipino businessman named Christopher Uyco the president and CEO of Topstrasse Global Inc., the company that owns the local mobile brand Torque phones. It was the fascinationof Mr. Uyco to gadgets and used Steve Jobs of Apple as an inspiration he came up with the idea of making his own designed mobile phones. Launched in December 2008, Torque is one of the best-selling local brands of cheap but trendy phones in the Philippines today as the features of Torque phones rival those that high-end phones offer. Like any other local brand it also takes the challenge to compete with the biggest names in mobile phones worldwide.
Official Stores in the Philippines
Topstrasse Global Inc is the exclusive distributor of Torque mobiles and gadgets. They have almost 500 own concept stalls and concept boots nationwide on biggest malls operating. They also partnered with the locally known online shops which is Lazada @ Lazada.com.ph and HalloHalloMall @ HalloHalloMall.com
Popularity in the Philippines
Torque is the fastest growing mobile handset maker in the Philippines has announced its latest product offering for the first quarter of 2010 in line with its Love Ko Torque campaign featuring the hottest celebrity in the local entertainment scene Luis Manzano. Yet the fact that it was locally manufactured, it didn't turn out to be a ground not to be popularized to local consumers. Torque has mobile phones, tablets and digicams. Its design is as a stylish as other big brands. But of course don't expect too much about the gadget. The Torque has notably good build quality, and is water, dust, vibration and shock proof. But the waterproofing hinders the visual quality and touch responsiveness of the already low resolution display. It has been popularized most for the youngsters. It is more affordable than any other brand.. It can accommodate young minds necessities especially as a study buddy. Perhaps on the game part it is quite non reliable. You can experience lags while playing and for some time you need to restart the device for it to work properly again. Torque gadgets are not highly recommends for business people. It is not that professional friendly gadget.
Torque, is the other aggressive local brand apart from Cherry Mobile, just launched another Android tablet for the budget-conscious Filipinos. Torque currently has the Droidz Flash, Droidz Portal and Droidz View Android tablets in the market but there's always room for another one.
The new Android tablet is the Torque Droidz Race and it's another 7-incher. Torque's pricing is the main attraction here since the Droidz Race is priced at only P3,699. That's too low, too cheap, too affordable you'd think there's a catch. Looking at the main specs of the Droidz Race, you will not see any obvious drawbacks from this tablet. Torque Droidz Race is an Android Ice Cream Sandwich device, so that should mean the tablet will be considerably faster than the previous Gingerbread-running tablets from Torque.
Take note, however, that the processor isn't multi-core so that should definitely affect the multitasking capabilities of this tablet. The Droidz Race is powered by a 1GHz single core All winner processor and there lies one obvious compromise Torque made in order to achieve the low price point. The processor is paired by 512MB of RAM and the main camera maxes out at only 2 megapixels. There's a front-facing camera but it's just VGA type. For internal storage, you'll get 4GB but at least there's a microSD slot for storage expansion that can accommodate up to 32GB. There's Wi-Fi, GPS and accelerometer but this one has no 3G capability.
Topstrasse Global Inc., also offers a business partnership to any individual who is interested in reselling their product. It is a technology-savvy distributions company partnered with the top manufacturers of mobile and wired/wireless devices in the world. The company is comprised of a pool of highly driven and ambitious talents who continually aim to provide winning opportunities to business partners and customers. They build win-win relationships in all of their dealings and services. The passion in the products and services is well reflected in the high quality standard that the company continually upholds.
