Owned by PhoneCo Mobile Technologies Inc., Cloudfone is a local brand of affordable mobile phones and tablets. The brand was supposedly introduced to the market as a response to a growing demand for cheaper touchscreen smartphones.
The company believed that the days of Voice calls and SMS messaging are over as more and more consumers take advantage of the data services and have become more social media savvy. Anywhere you look, you can see Filipinos swiping their fingers across their mobile devices and connecting with their friends, colleagues and literally the world. Touchscreen smartphones also offer a new form of recreation with the many game apps that can be downloaded and played, providing hours of fun and excitement. Of course, such technology comes at a price and in a country that is considered to have the most expensive data rates in Southeast Asia, it is only right for a company to offer low priced touchscreen smartphones under the brand CloudFone.
Popularity in the Philippines
Filipinos welcomed the CloudFone brand with open arms, admiring not only its affordability but also the selection of feature-laden smartphones and tablets. The tablet collection features the CloudPad series consists of 3 models with the CloudPad 970 as its best seller. The model features a 9.7 inch call and text tablet with WiFi and runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream sandwich processor.
As for the smartphone collection, there is the Excite series with prices ranging between P2,999 to p3,999 and designed for the budget conscious; the Thrill Series with prices from p4,999 to P7,777 which features bigger screens and more impressive product specifications. All smartphones run on Android 4.0 operating system. The company hopes to introduce more models with prices still below P10,000.
Aside from the low prices and capacitive touchscreen, Cloudfone devices also boast of dual SIM capabilities. For a lot of Filipinos, this feature is really a game changer as most subscribe to different networks and carrying around 2 or more mobile phones is certainly not convenient.
The company caught consumer attention with the introduction of the Thrill 430x which comes with a 1.2GHz Snapdragon dual core processor, Android 4.1 jelly Bean OS and 4GB of ROM and 768MB of RAM. Users can expect apps to run smoother and faster and memory can even be upgraded to 32GB by taking advantage of the microSD card slot so that more videos, photos and music can be stored. This model comes with 8MP AF, TF rear camera with Dual LED Flash, front camera and a 4160mAh battery. Unit is priced at P6,999. The Thrill 450q wowed consumers with its 1.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon processor, 4.5 Android processor and 12 MWP AF TF rear camera and 3MP front camera. Unit is priced at P8,999 and supplied with FREE powerbank.
The crowning glory of the CloudFone collection is the Thrill 530qx model. It boasts of a powerful 4500mAh polymer battery allowing users to enjoy the many features of the smartphone longer without having to turn off data services in order to conserve battery. The device also has a 5.3 inch HD touchscreen display, 1GB RAM and 1.2GHz quad core processor. It has a 5MP front camera and 12MP rear camera. Price is P9,999.
