New XPS 13 : One of the most well-known laptops with a thin bezel, XPS 13, now supports 4K and HDR!

Dell announced the release of the New XPS 13, the successor to the 13.3-inch display XPS 13. It appeals as a laptop that people can enjoy watching movies with sense of immersion as more and more people use video streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

The bezel is now 4mm with the new design.

The recent laptop trend is thin bezels, and the XPS 13 was one of the models that adopted it first; its concept was "Big display yet compact." The new model has even thinner bezels of 4mm whereas the previous model was 5.2mm. The body is 302(W) x 199(D) 7.8-11.6 (H) mm, and the weight is about 1.21kg. It is thinner than the previous model by 30%. According to Dell, just like its previous model, this has the smallest footprint as a laptop with a 13.3-inch display.
As for color variation, a new color, Rose Gold & Alpine White, joined the Platinum Silver & Black. It uses braided glass fiber with the palm rest, which gives a sense of cleanness. Thanks to the soil resistance finish, it doesn't get dirty easily, and even when it does, you can wipe it off easily; it is said that it can be used for a long time.
The color is beautiful. It has the smartness that couldn't be seen with previous PCs from Dell. Also, the Rose Gold & Alpine White model comes with a white AC adapter and a cable.

The one on the left is the Rose Gold & Alpine White model, and the one on the right is the Platinum Silver & Black model. The body is curved out of one aluminum block. The palm rest of the Platinum Silver & Black model is made of carbon fiber.

It is thinner by 30% than its previous model. It is 7.8mm to 11.6mm.

Dell Cinema enables watching movies more pleasant.

The New XPS 13's concept is "Dell Cinema." They pay attention to users' experience of watching streamed movies. This is due to the increase of users who watch streamed movies using Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. They released a 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) model, which offers better visibility than QHD plus (3200 x 1800). The 4K UHD display has realized 100% sRGB cover ratio and contrast ratio of 1500:1. Also they have adopted Windows HD Color to support HDR streaming contents. It is said that users can enjoy Netflix's HDR contents with high image quality. As for sound, they adopted "WavesMaxx Audio Pro." Its clear and powerful low tone sound enables users to enjoy movies. As for network, which is important in streaming, they use Killer Wireless, which is used for gaming PCs and SmartByte, which they developed with Rivet Networks, so that the movies don't get stopped or buffer and users can enjoy watching movies pleasantly.

The resolution of the 4K model is 3840 x 2160. Recommended scaling is 300%.

It has high performance of the 8th generation Core Processor.

They adopted the 8th generation Core Processor for CPU like its previous model, but they improved the cooling system to realize higher performance. To be more precise, it uses dual fan and dual heat pipe to realize high cooling performance and quietness. Also, by using a heat insulation film called GORE Thermal Insulation, it keeps the system at low temperature even when it has heavy burden. As for interface, it has 2 USB 3.1 Type-C which supports Thunderbolt 3 and USB 3.1 Type-C and micro SD card slot. As for security, the camera under the display supports Windows Hello's face recognition, which allows you to unlock just with your face. You can also add fingerprint reader on the power button as option. There are 6 models; they have different CPU, RAM and ROM. The least expensive "Platinum model" is Core i5-8250U (1.60GHz, maximum 3.40GHz), 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD (PCIe NVMe SSD.) The display is 1920 x 1080 FHD (not touch display). The OS is Windows 10 Home 64 bit. The 4K model "Premium 4K touch panel" has Core i5-8250U, 8GB RAM and 256GB storage (PCIe NVMe SSD).
