The newest game console released in March 2017, the Nintendo Switch, is not only a stationary game console but also a portable game console, and is attracting a great deal of attention. Many varieties of games from different genres are released one after another. Among all these Nintendo Switch games, I have chosen 15 games you definitely don't want to miss out in 2018. I chose games anyone would enjoy. I hope this helps.
1. Splatoon 2
Splatoon, which was the first newly made game from Nintendo after 14 years, now has its sequel with the Nintendo Switch! Third-person shooter (TPS) is usually a genre for gamers, but this is nicely done as a game for children to adults to enjoy, which made the original Splatoon a big hit.
Operating Inklings (squids), you can paint the ground and fight against enemies with various weapons; once you play Ink battles, you'll be into it. With this new game, it has new weapons and stages. It also has new features such as Salmon Run, where you can cooperate with three other players. Even if you haven't played the original Splatoon, you can enjoy this.
Splatoon can be said that this is the most awaited game with the Nintendo Switch. It is impossible to explain in short how great this game is, but the best thing about this game is that anyone can become a hero and enjoy even when you are not good at action or shooting games. Once you acquire your play style, you can play "Ink"redibly well! Anyway, if you are a Nintendo Switch user, you wouldn't regret getting this!
2. Spelunker Party
Based on Spelunker Z for the PS4 and PlayStation Vita, Spelunker Party was released. You explore in caves fighting against enemies and solving problems to get treasure to finish the stage. The main character is said to be the weakest in the history of games, which makes this difficult.
However, this difficulty is the selling point of Spelunker Party. Also, the feature of the Nintendo Switch, cooperating with other players, plays an important role. You can play this game forgetting the time with your friends and online. Its easiness in game properties and working with other players makes this game so fun.
3. Super Mario Odyssey
The newest game of the Super Mario series which the entire world has waited for, Super Mario Odyssey, is the next we are looking at. This is the first sandbox-style 3D Mario adventure since Super Mario Sunshine from 15 years ago.
With this, Mario explores various countries on earth getting out of the Mushroom Kingdom with the hat-shaped Cappy, a ghost-like creature. You can explore countries freely with enormous fields with Mario's various actions.
New actions he does with Cappy such as cap throw and capture are added, which gives you more choice in action. Unknown countries are different from previous Mario series; it has countires such as Mexican desert, world of colorful vegetables and dishes and modern cities with high-rise buildings.
It has been improved a lot as an action game while keeping Mario's original features. This is a game for young and old.
4. Fire Emblem Warriors
Fire Emblem Warriors has received high reputation as a well done collaborative work.
It feels amazing to beat enemies using unique characters from the Fire Emblem series. Also, it has Fire Emblem's unique feature of giving instructions to characters which you are not playing.
You can plan the battle giving instructions to other characters , moving them and making them attack certain enemies. Also it has received high reputation as it's got the Fire Emblem's game property such as Weapon Triangle, Dual and Slayer nicely adopted in the Dynasty Warriors series. Even when you haven't played the Dynasty Warriors series or Fire Emblem series, you can enjoy this game.
5. Dragon ball Xenoverse 2 for Nintendo Switch
Dragon ball Xenoverse 2 was released as a Nintendo Switch game. It is an action game to fight against various enemies with the well-known characters such as Goku and Vegeta to save the history of Dragon ball. The hero is not existing characters but the avatar you made, which is you!

What you need to do here is to save the history of Dragon ball challenging Saiyans, Frieza's corps on Namek, Cell, Majin Buu and God of Destruction Bills.

"Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers" is the newest of the Street Fighter series, a monumental game of match-type fighting. The "Super Street Fighter IIX" was re-made to be suited with this age and has got new features.
With Street Fighter II, you can enjoy exciting matches. Now with the Nintendo Switch, you can enjoy outside with your friends or players online.
Graphics and BGM are refined as the modernized version, but it has a play mode with original graphics and BGM, so those who used to paly this would be excited with nostalgia. Also, it has a completely new mode, first person "Hadoken" mode, where you can hold the Joy-Con in your hands and shoot Hadoken.
ARMS was an exceptional hit as a fighting game. It has an intuitive boxing style, holding the Joy-Con in both hands, which is new for a fighting game. It looks cute yet deep, which attracts many users.
At the moment, it has 15 characters you can play. They all have unique abilities, and with the combination of arms, which you can put differently on left and right, you can find your own battle style. Since you play moving your body, it feels refreshing when you win after concentrating on a fight. It is also fun to share the Joy-Con with your family or friends, or challenge strong fighters of the world.
8. Pokken Tournament DX
The popular Pokémon debuted as Pokken Tournament DX with the Nintendo DX. This is a match-up fighting game of one-on-one using the Pokémon you know well.
The Pokémon were designed imagining how they would look in real life if there were, so they look powerful and realistic; just looking at them is impressive. You can operate those Pokémon so it is really impressive.
As a game beginner, match-up fighting games sound hard. However, it is easy to put command or combo with Pokkken Tournament DX, so kids can play it, too. Having said that, you can still come up with tactics, so experienced gamers should be able to have fun.
9. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has the Wii U Mario Kart, two of the added paid contents and new features all in one. With the Nintendo Switch, you can share the Joy-Con to play at home or when you are out.
It has new characters, Boys and Girls from Splatoon, so there are 42 characters to choose from. There are 48 courses, so there is a lot to play.
I particularly would like to recommend the Battle mode, which is compatible with both local and online battle. It has 5 different rules: "Balloon Mode," "Bob-omb Blast," "Coin Runners," Renegade Roundup" and "Shine Thief." So there is no doubt that all the players get excited! Also, it is great that you can enjoy races with beautiful animation with a portable game player when you are out. When you use the handle assist function to support your driving, beginners can enjoy it, too.
10. Puyo Puyo Tetris
Collaboration of the Puyo Puyo and Tetris! I assume there are many people who would get excited just hearing about it. Their basic rules remain the same, but it has many modes such as VS mode where you play against Puyo Puyo and Tetris, and Swap mode where the rules of Puyo Puyo and Tetris switch as the time passes. Of course you can play Puyo Puyo and Tetris as they are.
You can play against your friend sharing the Joy-Con. You can also play against tough players from around the world online. It has an Adventure Mode which you can enjoy the story, so you can play by yourself, too. You can casually play with your friends, or immerse yourself in it online. They are the puzzle games everyone knows, so anyone can enjoy it.
11. Snipperclips Plus
Snipperclips was one of the games released at the launch of the Nintendo Switch. It got high reputation as an action puzzle game. It has now got new features and came back as Snipperclips Plus.
Operating two characters, Snip and Clip, you cut their bodies to change the shape to carry things in the stage or start a device to reach the goals. You can operate both two characters switching, or you can play with another player to operate each character!
It is fun to play by yourself, but it is a lot more fun if you play with another player. You need to talk to each other to come up with ideas, so you would have fun talking while playing. It has 69 stages with the theme of stationaries, science and 2D games from the previous one, and 40 more stages with the theme of comic and craft. There is also a Party mode where 2-4 people can play. It is the perfect game for many people to play together.
1-2-Switch was released at the same time as the Nintendo Switch. It is a game made with a new concept of not looking at the screen but each other. It is a game for both children and adults to play together.
It offers 28 games that lets you can experience the function of the Joy-Con, such as HD vibration which can realize fine vibrations and motion IR camera which can tell the shapes and moves of things. It makes a perfect party game. When you play 1-2-Switch, you definitely would go, "Wow! The Joy-Con is amazing!" This is a good entry game for the Nintendo Switch.
Action RPG games
13. The Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild
The Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild, the newest of the Legend of Zelda series, was released as one of the launch titles of the Nintendo Switch. It has adopted Open World whose stage is a big world, so you can do anything anywhere, which is the biggest characteristic of this game.
It has the worldview of the Legend of Zelda series nicely introduced in the new game system of the Open World. It has received high evaluation in all the game review sites, and it has received three titles including the Game Awards 2017. It has various actions, beautiful animation, travel system which allows you to climb up on pretty much anything and parasail, shrines that puzzles the players... it has so many charms that I cannot cover them all.
It takes forever to finish all the main quests and sub quests, and also, there are two expansion passes, The Master Trials and The Champions' Ballad. What else is there to play without playing this?
14. Resident Evil : Revelations Collection
Resident Evil Revelations Collection contains Resident Evil Revelations and Resident Evil Revelations 2. All the previous add-ons and DLC are included, too. It also has new features for the Nintendo Switch.
The new feature for the Nintendo Switch version is that it supports intuitive operation where you can hold the Joy-Con in both hands. You can use the Joy-Con for using a knife, aiming with a gun, reloading the gun, so even if you have played the original ones, you still can enjoy playing this.
With the thrilling story line, fun filled action, suspense and horror, you can forget about time and keep playing. Raid mode is available; you can cooperate with your family and friends. You can enjoy 2 titles, but the price is for one. It has a high cost performance.
15. Xenobrade Chronicles 2
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is the newest title of the popular RPG series. It is set in Alrest, the sea of clouds spreading around the World Tree. As the giant beasts, which people have established a country upon, march toward death, people were in great trouble. You become a 15-year-old boy named Rex and go on an adventure seeking the paradise on the World Tree with Pyra, a living weapon known as a Blade. This is the rough story of this game. This is certainly a classic of RPG.
The wide spread world is made to the details, and it stimulates the players' curiosity. Mysterious cave, deep lake, very steep cliffs... everything has something surprising. Just exploring is amazingly fun.
The battle which requires tactics is a signature of the Xenoblade. You might find it complicated at first, but once you get used to it, you would like the development of critical situation and chance coming taking turns. It is not related to the previous game, so even if you haven't played it, you can easily get into it. If you like playing games without haste by yourself, it would be a great one to play.
