About Fujifilm Digital Cameras
FUJIFILM includes better digital technology for Filipino markets
FUJIFILM is the commonly used name of FUJIFILM Holdings Corporation. It is photography equipment and imaging company headquartered in Tokyo and Japan. Their business interest includes digital camera, printers, photocopy machines, color film, imaging devices and equipment used in the medical and diagnostic industry, color paper, materials and equipment for graphical arts, chemicals for photo finishing and sale, service and management of business document solutions.
This company’s history dates back to 1934 when it was established as Fuji Photo Film Corporation Limited. They started their business producing photographic plates, films for the motion picture industry. After 10 years they ventured into manufacturing of optical glasses and lenses. Between 1945 and 1962 business was extended to magnetic materials, electronics, etc. During 1980’s it began production overseas, where numerous sales base were also inaugurated.
Post 2000 saw a rapid propagation of digital technology utilized in cameras. Markets evolved to be more favorable to digital cameras, while sales figure of photographic films plunged. To adapt to these new market conditions, this company implemented drastic management reforms. They started planning reforms as early as 1980, when it foresaw the rise of the digital avatar of photographic world and fall of film business.
Popularity in Philippines
Their three point strategy for gaining popularity in Philippines is:
- Gain the highest possible profits from the film business.
- Prepare for the switch to digital technology.
- Develop new business lines.
Most other companies that had started their business selling films for photography and related equipment had to shut their doors like Kodak did in 2008 after the rise of the digital age. Its ability to make radical market strategies and blend in with current market conditions give it a nice edge over other companies as far as markets in Philippines are concerned.
FUJIFILM has released a large number of products in Philippines. Some of their noteworthy products are:
The FinePix Series
The X Series
This company’s marketing strategy in Philippines is quite astute. Since the Filipino markets are quite full with various types of electronics goods, every native company feels a kind of completion from other foreign brands. So FUJIFILM has a very unique approach to free itself from these types of competition. What does it do? This company offers excellent products in a reduced price range than its fellow competitors. Their marketing cost as individual items certainly decreases, but the overall pricing from their sales compensate for that.
