Vivo Xplay7 also to have Pop-up Selfie Camera similar to Upcoming Vivo APEX

The upcoming Vivo Xplay7 will have bare minimum bezels, but to achieve this it won't have a notch-like feature rather it will have a pop-up selfie camera integrated into the body of the device akin to what we have been hearing for the Vivo APEX smartphone which is also in the pipeline.

There is much talk about the upcoming Vivo APEX smartphone, which will arrive with top-notch features including a pop-up selfie camera. But now, it seems Vivo is planning another handset, the Vivo Xplay7 which also might arrive with the same camera technology.

Vivo APEX Pop-up Selfie Camera

Nevertheless, it must be said that the pop-up camera was not initially planned for the Vivo Xplay7. Instead, Vivo was considering a round-shaped cut-out on the top of the display to accommodate selfie camera as well as sensors.

The most apparent reason behind the change in plan is that the pop-up selfie camera will let the Vivo Xplay7 achieve a greater screen-to-body ratio like what is expected in the Vivo APEX.

Vivo had filed for the pop-up camera patent back in July 2017. According to the patent, Vivo will utilize a camera equipped with an electric motor that "extends or retracts into the phone's case (body)."

Along with the pop-up camera, the Vivo Xplay7 will also be the beneficiary of the in-display fingerprint scanner which is not surprisingly considering that the company was first to adopt this kind of fingerprint scanner in the Vivo X20Plus. There is, however, doubt if the "Screen SoundCasting Technology" from the Vivo APEX will also find a place in the Vivo Xplay7.

So far, spec details of the Vivo Xplay7 are not revealed. But thanks to rumor mill we have some hints in this regard. The smartphone is likely to be fueled by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage.

Back in January, it was rumored that the Vivo Xplay7 would rather be the first smartphone with 10GB RAM. We, however, don't think it is plausible enough. On the other hand, the Vivo APEX has a higher chance of launching with 10GB RAM.

The Vivo Xplay7 will have the in-vogue 18:9 aspect ratio design. Therefore, we can expect extremely thin bezels from all the four sides, even better than its predecessors.

Considering the specs, it is clear that the Vivo Xplay7 will be a premium offering with a respectable price tag. But how much it will cost, it is not known nor is known when the smartphone will make its debut. Hopefully, in the coming weeks, some info in this regard will come out.
