Under-display-toting Vivo X20Plus UD to arrive on January 24
The Vivo X20 Plus UD, which has an under-display fingerprint scanner, will launch tomorrow, January 24, as per the press invites distributed by the company. It is expected to sell for CNY 3,998 (around PHP 32,000) in China.
At the recently-concluded Consumer Electronics Show 2018, Vivo unveiled the world's first-ever smartphone with an in-display fingerprint scanner made by Synaptics. Sadly, the Chinese phone maker did not mention anything regarding the official name of the device as well as its release date at the prestigious trade show. Recently, however, the company sent out invites for a launch event of the handset dubbed as the Vivo X20Plus UD (presumably means 'under-display') in Beijing, China tomorrow, January 24, which will begin at 7:30 PM local time. The poster goes with the tagline "Unlock the Future" and an image of a swirling pattern that looks a lot like a fingerprint, which emphasized the futuristic biometric technology the upcoming phone offers. It is worth mentioning that the Vivo X20Plus UD has already received its necessary certifications from China's 3C and TENAA authority, so it is more than prepared to start hitting the market shelves of Vivo's home country.
The Vivo X20Plus UD packs similar specs as the regular X20Plus. The only difference between the two is that the former comes with a Clear ID 9500 under-display biometric sensor which unlocks the gadget in about 0.6 or 0.7 seconds. Coming to the specifications, the X20Plus UD sports a 6.43-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Under the hood, it has a Snapdragon 660 chipset coupled with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of native storage. On the camera front, it features a dual-rear-camera setup, comprised of a 12-megapixel sensor with an aperture of f/1.8 and a 5-megapixel lens, and a selfie shooter of 12 megapixels. It runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS out-of-the-box. It gets its juice from a 3800 mAh battery.
If we were to believe the previous rumors, the Vivo X20Plus UD is expected to cost CNY 3,998 (around PHP 32,000). Stay tuned.
