Back at the 2018 Mobile World Congress last February, the Chinese tech firm Vivo showed off a futuristic prototype bearing the moniker Vivo APEX. As expected, the product caused a stir in the mobile industry with a lot of folks hoping that the APEX would see the light of day. Fortunately, Vivo heard our pleas and promised that it would release the phone to the public at some point this year. Now, we are less than a week from the APEX's launch event scheduled on June 12, which was renamed to the Vivo NEX. Prior to the unveiling, the Vivo NEX starred in a Chinese Web TV Show, flaunting its pop-up selfie camera.
Apart from a live video, the Vivo NEX was being stripped off its wraps when its alleged specs sheet surfaced in the wild. The leak revealed that the Vivo NEX will sport a 6.01-inch display with a full HD+ resolution. Under the hood, it is expected to come with a Snapdragon 710 chip clocked at 2.2GHz coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Going to the optics, the phone features a dual-camera setup at the back comprised of a 20MP primary sensor and a 16MP secondary lens while a 24MP front-facing snapper takes care of selfies. It will most likely run on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system and pack a 3320mAh battery to keep the lights on.
It is worth mentioning that the upcoming Vivo NEX has three variants to offer: The Vivo NEX, Vivo NEX S, and Vivo NEX A. Both the Vivo NEX S and the Vivo NEX A are anticipated to carry a Snapdragon 710 processor whereas the standard Vivo NEX will land with a Snapdragon 845 SoC. Considering that the leaked specs sheet of a Vivo NEX variant mentions a Snapdragon 710 chip, many believe that it pertains to the Vivo NEX S variant. We'll probably know more about these devices as we draw near its launching on June 12.
