Leaked front panels of Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ surfaces, battery size also revealed
Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 recently starred in a leaked photo of their front panels placed side-by-side, revealing much narrower top and bezels compared to their predecessors. A separate but related report also reveals Galaxy S9's battery size.
Samsung's upcoming flagship devices, the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+, which will serve as the successors to the current Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+, have been showing up frequently in the news lately. In fact, a bunch of images and rumored specs are currently circulating on the web. For instance, we came across some CAD-based renders and video of the next-gen phones last week, showing them off at all possible angles. Now, the latest one we have here is a shot of the handsets' front panels placed side-by-side, which further confirmed the minimal design changes they sport from their predecessors, the Galaxy S8 duo.
As per the images, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ feature a close resemblance with the current high-end smartphones. However, they have narrower bezels compared to the latter, resulting in a higher screen-to-body ratio. The thinner forehead comes with a plethora of sensor cutouts which are for the front camera, earpiece, an iris scanner, as well as for the proximity, hall, and light sensors. Although the chin is remarkably smaller, it still can't hide the fact that Samsung failed to, at least, remove it all at once. On the other hand, the South Korean tech giant's rival, Apple, completely shaved the bezels off its iPhone X and only created a notch on the top for the necessary sensors.
On a separate but related post from Chinese source, the Galaxy S9 is said to come with a larger 3200 mAh battery capacity compared to the Galaxy S8, granting a power bump of 200 mAh. The information reportedly comes from someone in possession of a test unit. The same source also reveals that the device will support Quick Charge 3.0 fast-charging technology. Unfortunately, there's no news regarding the Galaxy S9+'s battery pack.
We will have to wait for a confirmation and additional information about this matter. When that comes, we will keep you updated.
