Towards the end of June, Samsung brought the budget Galaxy J8 in the Indian market. Now, it's time for the Philippines to receive the same treatment. The South Korean tech giant recently stated that its new mid-ranger is heading in our direction and will arrive pretty soon. However, the company did not reveal any detail regarding the price of the device albeit we are sure that it will be affordable as it is targeted to the budget segment of the market. That being said, the 2018 iteration of the Galaxy J8 is expected to offer not-so-powerful but capable innards and quite decent features.
The Samsung Galaxy J8 sports a 6-inch Infinity Display with a Super AMOLED panel, 1440 x 720-pixel resolution that comes protected with a 2.5D curved glass. Under the hood, it arrives with a Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor having a maximum clock rate of 1.4GHz and an Adreno 506 GPU for the graphics department. You get to choose between two internal storage variants: 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. Both models support storage expansion of up to 256GB via microSD card. Connectivity-wise, the Galaxy J8 packs 4G LTE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, and dual SIM support.
Furthermore, the Galaxy J8 features a dual-rear camera system made up of a 16MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture and a 5MP lens with f/1.9 aperture and LED flash. Up front, it comes with a 16MP selfie camera with f/1.9 aperture and soft-light LED flash. As for the platform, the handset runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with Samsung Experience 9.0 UI on top. To keep everything running, a 3500mAh battery sits at the helm. The Galaxy J8 comes with a dimension of 160 x 75.8 x 7.95mm and tips the scales at 177 grams.
There's no official announcement about its date or pricing as of this writing, but reports suggest that it may arrive any time soon. We'll keep our eyes peeled for more details.
