OnePlus 6 Officially launched – The Best OnePlus device ever
The OnePlus 6 is finally here to stay. The newly-unveiled device sports the latest Snapdragon 845 chipset from Qualcomm, a large 6.28-inch display, and an Android 8.1 Oreo platform. Prices starts at USD529 (around PHP28,000) all the way up to USD629 (around PHP33,000) for the higher-end model.
After a few weeks of leaks and speculations, the much-awaited OnePlus 6 has finally become official. As expected, the new device arrives with a lot of exceptional features wrapped in an all-new design that is offered at a lower price tag compared to its competitors.
Design wise, the OnePlus 6 ditches the metal panel seen in its predecessor in favor of an all-glass Gorilla Glass 5 unibody. The rear camera has now relocated from its previous position in the phone's upper left corner to the center wherein the fingerprint scanner sits directly below it. Going to the front fascia, we can see nothing but screen as the top and bottom bezels are made minimal in size as possible, leaving a small-sized notch on the forehead that houses the necessary sensors. While the company didn't mention any IP rating available on the device, the OnePlus 6 should be able to withstand water and dust resistance equivalent to IP54.
Meanwhile, the elegant aesthetic is rightly paired with a slew of top-of-the-line specs. The OnePlus 6 debuts with a gorgeous 6.28-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2280 x 1080pixels. Due to the presence of the screen notch, the device comes with an unusual aspect ratio of 19:9.
Apart from changing the camera placement, the OnePlus 6 still comes with the same 16MP + 20MP dual-rear snappers, but this time, the optical image stabilization feature is back after its absence on the 5 and 5T. Up front, there's a 16MP shooter with AI capabilities similar to the ones we see on most of the recently launched notched-display equipped devices.
Under the hood, the OnePlus 6 makes use of the latest Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. There are three storage options available: 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. Topped with the company's in-house Oxygen OS, the Android 8.1 Oreo platform sits inside the package. The 3300mAh battery on board the device should be enough to last an entire day thanks to the its new power-efficient chip and software optimizations. The OnePlus 6 is available in three stunning hues, namely Mirror Black, Midnight Black, and Silk White.
Regarding the pricing, the OnePlus 6 with 6GB/64GB model costs USD529 (around PHP28,000) and is only available in Mirror Black color. The 8GB/128GB model is offered with all the color options for the price of USD579 (around PHP30,000). The highest-end variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage on the other hand, will set you back at USD629 (around PHP33,000).
The first units of the OnePlus will be available from May 22 whereas the Silk White limited edition will begin shipping on June 5.
