OPPO now has unveiled its new F1s Selfie Expert phone in the Philippines. As the successor of last year's OPPO F1, the F1s has a lot of goodwill coming from the success and reception of the original F1. The new F1s has a larger 5.5-inch screen than its predecessor, with HD 720p resolution.
Inside is a MediaTek MT6750 chipset, sporting a Mali-T860MP2 GPU. It has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, with an expansion microSD slot. The rear camera is 13-megapixels with f/2.2 aperture and phase detection autofocus, as well as LED flash. Unlike most phones, the front camera is actually the main camera, and is more capable with a 16-megapixel sensor, f/2.0 aperture and OPPO includes some filters and processing to give those selfies a sharper, clearer and more beautified effect.
The phone actually has Beauty 4.0, an image-processing setting that lets you set 7 levels of beautification for smoothing your skin, improve your complexion, and otherwise make you look prettier than you have any right to. But all's fair in the selfie game, isn't it? It's similar to the camera options Samsung includes in its flagship selfie modes, and OPPO wants to make sure you feel your best with this smartphone. It also has the usual LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS options, a micro USB port, along with the now ubiquitous fingerprint scanner, and a 3,075mAh battery.
The actual design of the device looks very similar to the iPhone 6, although it has some subtle design changes to its body giving it more curvature, slimmer antenna lines, and 2.5D curves all around.
The OPPO F1s Selfie Expert hits the Philippine market at PHP12,990, and it manages to look good and offer an impressive photography package at a decent price. While it's perhaps crossing over into mid-range pricing at this point, the OPPO is well-built, feels premium and will be happy to take selfies of you all day long.
If selfie photography appeals to you, the OPPO F1s is already available locally and should be on your shortlist of phones to get this year.
