The latest Nokia-branded phone we have been monitoring for a couple of weeks now has finally broke cover. HMD Global took the wraps off the new Nokia X6 at the recent launch event held in Beijing, China. The flagship device sports the infamous iPhone X-like screen notch resulting in an unusual aspect ratio of 19:9. The X6 boasts of a screen-to-body ratio of 95 percent. The screen on the phone is protected with Corning's Gorilla Glass 3 coating the 5.8-inch display that comes with a resolution of 2280 x 1080pixels.
Under the hood, the Nokia X6 comes with a Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor coupled with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage. The 4GB RAM can be paired with both storage options whereas the latter is only offered alongside the beefier 64GB storage. As for the platform, it runs on Android 8.1 Oreo OS out-of-the-box with a prospect upgrade to the next-gen Android P. The Nokia X6 packs a 3060mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 fast-charging technology that should go from 0 to 50 percent in just 30 minutes.
Going to the optics, the Nokia X6 features a dual-rear-camera configuration which consists of a 16-megapixel RGB sensor with f/2.0 aperture and a 5-megapixel monochrome lens with f/2.2 aperture. At front lies a 16-megapixel selfie snapper with an aperture of f/2.0 and 1.0micron pixel size. Camera features include automatic AI image enhancements such as optimized color, field and portrait lighting effects, HDR photo mode, and the "Bothie" mode which enables users to use the front and rear shooters simultaneously.
The Nokia X6 comes in three color options, Black, Blue, and Silver. And as for the pricing and availability, the Nokia X6 costs CNY1299 (around PHP11,000) for the 4GB/32GB model while the 4GB/64GB model carries a price of CNY1499 (around PHP12,000). The top-end version with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage will set you back at CNY1699 (around PHP14,000).
Given how major the X6 is on the Android-powered Nokia smartphone lineup, there's practically no reason for Nokia to not offer the X6 outside of the Chinese market, the only question though, is "when?".
