Entry-level Nokia 2 shown in leaked image alongside the Nokia 3
HMD Global has several Nokia-branded smartphones currently in the works, including the ultra-affordable Nokia 2. The Nokia 2 is recently shown in leaked image alongside the already-existing Nokia 3, revealing the design of the upcoming device.
HMD Global, the new home of Nokia phones, has already released three Android-powered Nokia-branded smartphones, the Nokia 3, the Nokia 5, and the Nokia 6, while at least three more devices are up in the pipeline. One of those handsets that are said to be currently in the works is the tech firm's flagship device itself, the Nokia 8, which is set to launch this month. Apart from the Nokia 8, they are also working on an entry-level handset dubbed as the Nokia 2. The upcoming Nokia 2 might be the company's cheapest smartphone offering for the year, even priced lower than the already-existing Nokia 3.
There's a new leak out in China showing the ultra-affordable Nokia 2 in image renders which surfaced on the Chinese website Baidu, alongside a rough drawing of its sibling, the Nokia 3, for comparison purposes. As per the image, the smartphones look like they have the same screen size which means that the Nokia 2 will also have a 5-inch display just like the Nokia 3. It is rumored that both devices are alike design-wise because both don't have fingerprint scanners on the front as well as on the back. But looking at the image above, it is too early to tell since it is only showing the front side.
The difference between the two devices is in the placement of the navigation buttons. The Nokia 3 has capacitive touch keys whereas the Nokia 2 has on-screen navigation buttons. The budget-friendly Nokia 2 also has more rounded edges and sports close resemblance with the now-dead Lumia 620. Furthermore, the person who leaked the image claims that the handset will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 chipset under the hood. Apparently, some sources also suggest that it might feature a MediaTek SoC.
The details cited here are what we only know so far, but we are hoping to get more information in the days to come. Stay tuned for updates!
