2018 Nissan Terra SUV Debuts in the Philippines Starting at PHP1,499,000
After a long teaser campaign, Nissan has finally debuted the mid-sized all-new SUV, the 2018 Nissan Terra, based on the Nissan Navara pick-up truck. The Terra holds a 2.5-liter four-cylinder diesel engine under the hood and exhibits a sleek and muscular design.
The mid-size SUV 2018 Nissan Terra was revealed in February this year, followed by its launch in China last month. And now the Terra SUV has been unwrapped in the Philippines. The new model is based on Nissan's pick-up truck, the Nissan Navara.
The Terra gets the ladder-frame chassis and multi-link coil spring rear suspension system, which are similar to those of the Navara. From the exterior, the Terra oozes a rugged and sophisticated design with a beefy V-motion front grille along with boomerang-shaped LED headlamps, accentuating its sporty look. The same headlamps are also there in the rear, and the muscular haunches run across the sides.
The Terra in the Philippines measures 4885mm in length, 1865mm in width, and 1835mm in height. In fact, the Filipino version of the Terra is 15mm wider and 3mm longer than the Chinese version. Fitted with 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, it has a comfortable ground clearance at 225mm.
On the inside, it has a familiar cabin design taken from the Navara. A V-shaped steering wheel and inclined dashboard with a 7-inch infotainment system are almost identical to the Navara. The Terra can accommodate up to 7 seats, providing access to the third row with an automatic tumble of the second-row seats by the push of a button located on the center console. Higher models are equipped with comfortable zero gravity front seats and automatic climate control.
The Nissan Terra has a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder diesel engine at the helm unlike the Chinese version, which is driven by a petrol engine. The Terra launched in the Philippines is capable of producing 188bhp power at 6,000rpm and 450Nm peak torque at 4,000rpm. The power is sent to the wheels via a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmission.
The crucial safety and driver assistance features include six airbags, Lane Departure Warning, Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, and Smart Rear View Mirror.
The Nissan Terra in the Philippines will be available for pre-order from June 1 while deliveries will be ensured in August. The prices start from PHP1,499,000 and go up to PHP2,096,000 depending upon the models. The Nissan Terra is there to butt heads with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, the Ford Everest, the Mitsubishi Montero Sport, and the Chevrolet Trailblazer in the country. Let's see how the market will respond to this new car.
