About Lenovo K900
One of Lenovo’s flagship phones is the K900 which is quite distinct as it comes with an Intel Atom processor as opposed to the more popular Qualcomm Snapdragon and Mediatek. It was unveiled last 2013 at the International CES. Marketed as a high end smartphone, the Lenovo K900 was designed with Asia’s emerging markets in mind including China, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Russia and the Philippines.
Popularity in the Philippines
With its stainless steel material, the Lenovo K900 has certainly made a splash when it entered the local market. It certainly was a breath of fresh air for many who are interested in other mobile brands. It helped that the company got NBA player Kobe Bryant to endorse the smartphone which helped boost brand recognition all over the country.
The Lenovo K900 comes with a host of impressive features. For starters, it is powered by Intel Atom Z2580 2.0 GHz dual core processor with Power VR SGX 544MP2 GPU and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It also comes with a 2GB RAM and internal storage of 16GB or 32GB and utilizes Intel’s hyper threading technology to improve performance.
The smartphone also boasts of a 5.5 inch full HD In-Plane Switching display with 1920 X 1080 pixel resolution. It comes with WiDI wireless Screen Display which project the K900 screen to WiDi supported digital TV or Monitor. Navigation is accomplished with the 5 point capacitive touch with pen, nail and light glove recognition. The handset is also gorgeous with its brushed non magnetic stainless steel and polycarbonate unibody case and Corning Gorilla Glass 2 screen. Built in sensors include A-GPS, Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor and Gravitation.
The Lenovo K900 features a 13MP rear camera with dual LED flash and auto focus features as well as geo tagging, face detection and touch focus as well as 1080p video capability. It is the first of its kind to use an f1.8 lens which allows for capturing images even in low light conditions. It also has a secondary 2MP camera with 88 degree wide angle lens for amazing video chat experience. Connectivity can be done via WiFi and Bluetooth and USB on the Go, which acts as a hub and read data from other devices such as mp3 players and cameras. Cable for the USB on-the-go feature is sold separately. It works on 2G and 3G networks.
Pre loaded applications include Accuweather, Evernote, Facebook, Lenovo Cloud storage,, Norton Mobile security, Route 66 maps + Navigation, Skype, Twitter and UC Browser. There are also a lot of preloaded games such as Asphalt 7, Little Big city and Shark Dash. Of course, you can also expect a lot of Google applications including Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Calendar and Google Talk.
The smartphone comes with a non removable 2500 mAh battery with a standby time of up to 300 hours on 2G and 300 hours on 3G and accommodates a microSIM card. It is available in Black and Gray colours and priced between Php 17,900 to Php 24,000.
Users definitely loved the large full HD display and the excellent quality camera. No one can deny that the Lenovo K900 is beautifully built and designed and enjoys much attention thanks to its stainless steel material. It is also quite durable and yet lights enough to be slipped inside your jean pocket or bag. It is also surprisingly affordable as compared to other brands of the same specs.
The lack of LTE connectivity is certainly a disadvantage as well as the absence of an expandable memory card slot and removable battery. There were also some issues with the battery life, call quality and overall performance.
There are a lot of reasons why the Lenovo K900 would be a smart buy. The screen display is just gorgeous as is the quality of the images captured by its camera. The handset is also super sleek looking. Of course, the lack of micro SD card slot can be a deal breaker for many. But with its cheaper price, you might want to consider this handset for your next mobile upgrade.
