Huawei Honor 7X debuts with an 18:9 display and dual rear cameras
Huawei's latest budget offering, the Honor 7X, is now official in the company's home country, China. The newly-announced device comes with an almost 6-inch display having an aspect ratio of 18:9 as well as dual rear cameras.
Huawei's sub-brand Honor recently launched its latest budget phone offering, the Honor 7X in China. The newly-unveiled device serves as the successor to last year's Honor 6X, but with noticeable differences. For instance, the Honor 7X sports a larger 5.93-inch display compared to the 6X's 5.5-inch display. It is also the first-ever Honor handset to feature a tall aspect ratio of 18:9. The screen has a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels, a pixel density of 407ppi, and a 2.5D curved glass on top. Design-wise, the phone is metal-clad with very thin bezels and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. It has a body thickness of 7.6mm weighing at 165g.
Regarding the rest of the specs, the Honor 7X comes with Huawei's in-house Kirin 659 octa-core processor clocked at 2.36GHz coupled with Mali-T830 MP2 GPU and 4GB of RAM. It packs three built-in memory variants: 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB ROM models, which supports expandable memory of up to 256GB via microSD card. On the camera department, the handset features a dual rear camera system comprised of a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary lens used for depth sensing. It arrives with an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter for taking selfies. The Honor 7X runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS topped with the company's EMUI 5.1 out-of-the-box. It packs a 3,340mAh battery, claimed to provide its users of up to 21 hours of talk time. Included in the package is Huawei's SuperCharge fast charging technology.
As for the pricing and availability, the Honor 7X costs CNY 1,300 (around PHP 10,150) for the 32GB memory variant, CNY 1,700 (around PHP 13,250) for the 64GB storage model and CNY 2,000 (around PHP 15, 600) for the beefed-up version with 128GB of inbuilt memory. Pre-orders are now up for the device with sales starting on October 17 with three color variants available, namely Aurora Blue, Midnight Black, and Platinum Gold. The Honor 7X is also expected to arrive in other markets outside China, although no exact dates were mentioned, reports suggest that the device could arrive as early as this month following the release in China.
