ASUS introduces the ZenFone 5, ZenFone 5Z, ZenFone 5 Lite and ZenFone Max (M1) at the MWC 2018 event
ASUS did not only come up at the event with one or two ZenFone devices; it brought at least 4 new ZenFone devices, namely the ZenFone 5, the ZenFone 5Z, the ZenFone 5 Lite (ZX600KL) and the ZenFone Max (M1).

The Taiwanese company's CEO Jerry Shen introduced the latest-gen ZenFone 5 series, comprised of three new phones, namely the ZenFone 5 (ZE620KL), the ZenFone 5Z (ZE620KL), and the Zenfone 5 Lite (ZX600KL), at the prestigious event. He also took the wraps off the battery-centric ZenFone Max (M1).
ASUS ZenFone 5 Lite (ZX600KL)
The ZenFone 5 Lite (ZX600KL) was the first ASUS device to come out during the press conference. It will serve as a budget-friendly handset targeted at the entry-level market segment. It sports a 6-inch display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The ZenFone 5 Lite (ZX600KL) comes in two processor variants, a standard model running Qualcomm's Snapdragon 430 SoC and a beefed-up version with a Snapdragon 630 chipset. There are also two memory configurations: 3GB RAM/32GB storage or 4GB RAM/64GB storage.
The main selling point of the ZenFone 5 Lite (ZX600KL) is its quad cameras. It features a 16MP rear snapper with a f/2.2 aperture and a 20MP Sony IMX376 selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture, both paired with a 120-degree wide-angle sensor. The device runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with ASUS's ZenUI 5.0 skin on top. Battery wise, the ZenFone 5 Lite packs a 3300mAh battery to keep the lights on.

ASUS ZenFone 5 (ZE620KL) and ZenFone 5Z (ZE620KL)
The ZenFone 5Z (ZE620K)L is a higher-spec'd model of the ZenFone 5 (ZE620KL), the difference between the two devices only lies in the processor and memory department, aside from that, both phones are simply identical. The ASUS ZenFone 5 (ZE620KL) and the ZenFone 5Z (ZE620KL) ship with a 6.2-inch Super IPS touchscreen with 2246 x 1080-pixel resolution. Both sport a metal frame and an iPhone X-like notch on top of the display. It also comes with a slew of AI functionalities such as AI Boost, AI Photography, AI Display, and AI Ringtone.
Under the hood, the ZenFone 5 (ZE620KL) has a Snapdragon 636 chipset coupled with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB storage whereas the ZenFone 5Z (ZE620KL) arrives with a Snapdragon 845 SoC mated to up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory. Both phones have a dual-camera setup of a 12MP primary camera with Sony's IMX363 sensor and f/1.8 aperture paired with an unknown 120-degree wide-angle camera. Up front, there's an 8MP selfie snapper with f/2.0 aperture. Also, you are looking at Android 8.0 Oreo topped with ZenUI 5.0 out-of-the-box and 3300mAh battery.

ASUS ZenFone Max (M1)
Back in November 2017, ASUS unveiled the ZenFone Max Plus (M1). Following that is the standard variant which is the ZenFone Max (M1). The ZenFone Max (P1) ships with a 5.5-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels and a tall 18:9 aspect ratio. It comes powered by either a Snapdragon 425 SoC or Snapdragon 430 processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage. The Zenfone Max (M1) has a dual-camera setup, comprised of a 13 MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and phase detection autofocus and an 8MP 120-degree wide-angle lens, and a single 8MP f/2.2 camera module up front. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and a hefty 4000mAh battery on board.

As of now, ASUS hasn't given out any dates or pricing regarding the announced lineup. Rumor has it that the ZenFone 5 Lite (ZX600KL) will come out first this March while the ZenFone 5 (ZE620KL) will arrive in April priced at around USD500 (about PHP26,000) and the ZenFone 5Z (ZE620KL) in June priced at around USD700 (about PHP37,000).
